2013 Grafton Cup Betting Tips

July 11th, 2013

After Youthful Jack’s blowout win in the Ramornie Handicap punters will be looking for a more favorable result in the feature race of the Grafton Cup Festival.

The 100th running of the Listed Grafton Cup (2350m) will take place today with a capacity field of sixteen stayers (plus three emergencies) set to run in Race 7 at 3.53 (AEST) today.

The 2013 Grafton Cup betting market at bookmaker.com.au is a very open affair with several horses available at single figure odds.

The current favourite is Destiny’s Kiss ($4) who has been well backed after his victory in the Winter Cup (2400m) last Monday.

Fellow last start winner Zennista is on the second line of betting at Grafton Cup odds of $5 while Caulfield Cup hopeful Mr O’Ceirin is available at $8.

With such a talented field of stayers this is a very tricking betting race so our team of horse racing experts have analysed the Grafton Cup form guide to come up with the best betting plays.

1st

#4 Destiny’s Kiss ($4)

Despite drawing a poor barrier, progressive stayer Destiny’s Kiss is the horse to beat in the Grafton Cup. The four-year-old ran on impressively to win the Winter Cup and looks like being a horse that gets better the more distance he is given to run. He will need a bit of luck from a tricky barrier but if he can find clear running in the straight will be very difficult to beat.

2nd

#2 Zennista ($5)

New Zealand mare Zennista looks the clear danger to Destiny’s Kiss after her strong win in the Caloundra Cup (2400m). The five-year-old has form around a number of quality horses coming out on the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival but is reaching the end of a long campaign and appears to have been set for this race as an afterthought.

3rd

#3 Fiumicino ($12)

The evergreen Fiumicino meets Destiny’s Kiss much better in the weights from his second place finish in the Winter Cup and is an excellent each-way betting play. The Zabeel nine-year-old showed he still has what it takes to perform at a high level in the W J Mckell Cup (2400m) and if given a soft run up front could be tough to run down.
