Zoomania Capable of 2015 Grafton Cup Success

June 24th, 2015

Well-bred mare Zoomania has been unable to post much of a competitive run of form this time in, however trainer Tony Gollan remains confident the seven-year-old is more than capable of a return to the winner’s circle in the 2015 Grafton Cup (2350m) on July 9th.

Zoomania finished twelfth in her first two starts upon resuming in April, and while performing well for third and success in two minor starts on the Sunshine Coast in following weeks, was unable to again figure upon returning to black type company and beating only one runner home in the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2400m) on the Gold Coast last weekend.

Yet to post an elusive win at black type level, Gollan confirmed the daughter of Zabeel will press on to the 2015 Grafton Cup and should enjoy the conditions of the race.

“She is a Zabeel mare and the owners obviously want black type to boost her value at stud,” Gollan told Australian Bloodstock.

“She won a race at Doomben last year and then got a virus so we had to spell her.

“This time in she has taken time to find her feet but she won very well at the Sunshine Coast. She didn’t beat my but there was a lot to like about her effort.

“On her breeding the 2400m should suit her very well.”

Posting six wins and a further four minors through 29 career starts, Zoomania began her racing career under the guidance of Peter Moody in mid-2010, but didn’t secure a maiden success until the late stages of the 2011 Spring Carnival.

Finishing eleventh in her Brisbane debut for Gollan in May 2014, Zoomania ran second in the Mount Franklin Handicap (1350m) upon resuming in spring before placing third in the EDB Training Handicap (1615m) in early October.

The 2015 Grafton Cup final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, July 6th.
