Godolphin runner Malice is yet to herald much interest in 2016 Grafton Cup betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au, but remains an outright $4.50 favourite to win the major country cup.

Malice has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far; posting a commendable five wins and eleven minors through thirty-one competitive starts.

Resuming in autumn for ninth in the Royal Randwick 100 (1400m) at Randwick on April 16th, the Teofilo gelding progressed to fifth in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) before placing third in each of the Listed Scone Cup (1600m) and Group 3 Lord Mayor’s Cup (1615m).

Subsequently running fourth in the Listed Wayne Wilson Mile (1600m) and third in the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup (2200m), Malice should relish another step up in distance for the 2016 Grafton Cup and will be partnered by notable hoop Brenton Avdulla.

Amexed ($5) has returned to racing in particularly slick form for leading Queensland trainer Tony Gollan this time, and has been backed into outright second-favouritism in Grafton Cup betting markets.

Stamping himself as one to watch through the 2014 edition of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, Amexed won the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) before finishing fourth in the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) and fifth in the Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m) most notably.

Requiring a couple of runs to find form upon resuming this time, the Pentire gelding placed third in the Hot FM BM80 (1650m) on May 21st and has since taken out each of the Ipswich Provincial Stayers Cup (2150m) and Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m).

Index Lined and Jumbo Prince have both posted strong results this time in, and remain locked on the third line of Grafton Cup betting at generous $5.50 quotes.

Index Linked has secured a number of impressive wins throughout a long and busy racing career for Chris Waller, and returned to winning form in the Tattersall’s Cup two starts ago.

The Dansili gelding could very well receive the run of the race on Thursday from barrier 3 and will be partnered by Rory Hutchings, but has been charged with carrying a race-high 60kgs.

The stable star for Toowoomba-based trainer Michael Nolan, Jumbo Prince ran third in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m) and won the Listed Tattersall’s Club Members’ Handicap (1600m) in early winter, and has placed second in each of the Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m) and Caloundra Cup most recently.
